I was on Facebook long before it was the “in” thing to do, and when you had to be a student at a college or university in order to have an account. As it has grown from a small college social network into a huge monster, I’ve reconnected with people I literally thought I would never see again. It’s little weird and totally awesome, all in one.
If you’re not familiar with Facebook, there is a feature that is sort of Twitterish, called a status update. This makes sense to you, only if you know what Twitter is…but basically, you type a short snippet of what you are doing (or feeling, or whatever) at that moment in time, hit “Enter,” and it is shared with those that follow you (on Twitter) or those that are your friends (on Facebook) . If I’ve totally confused you, just let me know and I’ll try to remedy the situation. :)
Anyway, the bottom line is that it’s quick & easy to do – no signing in to do a formal blog post required. I have a Twitter account that I very rarely use, but I do update my status on Facebook quite frequently (in actuality, I could update both at the same time, but just haven’t started doing that). So, if you are my friend on Facebook, you know that I post updates – a lot of times – when Iliya says something that I think others might enjoy. I have Facebook on my phone, so I can post from the comfort of anywhere – that way, I don’t forget it before I get a chance to post it.
If you aren’t on Facebook, that’s okay. I’m sharing some of these “Iliyaisms” today…as well as contemplating the idea of twittering a little more, and posting my tweets to an area on this blog.
And don’t worry if you’re confused, I’m just talking out loud, here. In fact, forget everything I typed and just read on for some of my most recent Facebook lliyaisms….and enjoy!
iliya: mama, where are we gonna eat after church? Me: I don’t know. How about at home? Iliya: No! There’s no food there! Me: Wow. Guess I need to kick it up a notch, eh? Iliya: hey! Don’t call me a “Notcha!”
This one isn’t an Iliyaism, but it’s something that happened and I still haven’t solved the mystery:
I feel awful. Iliya was so excited about having leftover spaghetti for lunch today. I packed his lunch last night, and it was in there. Got a note sent home today saying that his spaghetti was missing from his lunch. I even checked the fridge to make sure I hadn’t accidentally forgotten to put it in there…and it wasn’t in the fridge. Wonder where it couldve gone.
At supper one night:
…me: how’s that taste? Iliya: like poo. Me: excuse me? Iliya: like poo. Me: excuse me? You have one more chance. Iliya: like poo…uh…pooh the bear!
Christmas Songs!
Police NaNeeNa = Feliz Navidad
And my favorite one lately happened last night, on our way home from the shoe store (Nathan was driving, of course) last night:
Iliya: mama, what song is this? Me: “Do You Hear What I Hear? Iliya: yes, I do! What is this song?!
